‘Tis the season for all things pumpkin – lattes, cappuccinos, breads, muffins, soup, cakes, beer and your overgrown Fat Bastard paunch after gorging all of the goods. Never fret, that’s what New Year’s resolutions are for. To cap off the season with a bang, here are a few brews worth getting in your belly.
Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale:Of the Michelob varietal, this ale is rich and coppery like Abe’s face on a penny. It has hints of pumpkin with nutmeg and ginger tones. You just wish your face was on a penny.
Cottonwood Pumpkin-Spiced Ale:If a pumpkin latte could be morphed into beer, this would be it. It’s a latte with a kick. We’d call it a beer-e, batte, or blatte. Beer-puccino anyone? Brewed in the Carolinas, it has not only pumpkin flavors, but caramel as an added bonus. Be careful of the Fat Bastard bod with this brew – the beer boasts 185 calories per glass.
Brooklyn Oktoberfest: Oktoberfest beers have been around since 1810 when some drunk German prince threw a party. If a beer were created every time I got tipsy and threw a party, the Dead Sea would be alive and flowing with brew. This malty hops was specially made in Bamberg for the Brooklyn Brewery. It’s got that whole “I’m from Brooklyn” vibe going on.
